The pavilion of postcontemporary curating
Competition entry for the redevelopment of Sutton Scarsdale Hall in Derbyshire.
The London artist collective The Centre of Attention is planning to reuse the ruin of Sutton Scarsdale Hall Georgian as "Pavilion of postcontemporary curating".
In order to preserve the ruin, the complete structure is grouted with glass fiber reinforced, artificial amber resin. The needed spaces for the Pavilion of postcontemporary curating are hollowed out, depending on the actual needs, what leads to archetypal space typologies. Due to the expensive, slow and costly progress, the focus lies on the processual nature of the building. The expected material costs amount to approximately 19.5 million euros.
